metax‎‎ý – Greek for “in-between”, a concept from Platon’s cosmogony in Timaios that reverberates in the Sufi tradition as berzah (Ibn Arabi) and dihliz (al-Ghazali) and of which Simmel’s sociology is strangely reverberant. This in-betweenness is distinct from that used in the fetishism of decay that is Deleuzian post-structuralism. Here are two reflections on the concept.
